The Spinning Top is a fun, stylish play space, set up and founded by mum of 2 boys, Melissa Edge. Melissa loves watching her children explore different types of play, watching them learn, but be excited by what they are learning, watching their eyes light up and the magic set in. And that’s exactly what we want to create at The Spinning Top. A place where play is magic.
Of course, our children love to play, and play can come in all different forms, we love when the invitations also naturally lean toward learning too. Our child-led environment will give our children the sparks of imagination, and the curiosity we love to see. We will explore STEM ideas, Montessori ideas, all the senses ideas, every week will be a new discovery of play.
All our children are different, they will naturally all be drawn to different types of play, and that’s ok, but this is a place they can explore and we can sit back, enjoy watching where their curiosity takes them, but be there for them when they need us.
As we move into each new astrological season we will start a new theme here at The Spinning Top, as we move through the natural energies of the year, different themes of play will arise, conversations, feelings, curiosities, being aware of each season gives us the opportunity to tailor the play to suit these too, and we can’t wait to see the chatty Gemini Sun child, chatting away to their friends playing cafes or hairdressers, or a more sensitive Cancerians exploring different emotions, and the Leo child who loves to be on the stage, singing dancing, making everyone laugh, all our play will give them a chance to shine.
Within these seasons, each week will have fun activities, role play areas, water play and the most amazing smelling play-doh. We will explore STEM ideas, Montessori ideas, all the senses ideas, every week will be a new discovery of play.
You can enjoy meeting your friends and making new ones in a relaxing space, with gorgeous tasting coffee brought to you, and mouth-watering cakes… if you fancy. Oh, and did we mention you’ll be able to order the tastiest deli-style sandwiches too.
My background is in Early Years education, and I’ve spent several years working in childcare, creating nurturing and engaging spaces for little ones to learn and grow. However, after having my children, I felt inspired to take a different path, one that allowed me to combine my experience with my passion for play in a new and exciting way.
That’s when I took over The Spinning Top I love the fun, stylish play space where children can explore, imagine, and make magical memories while parents can relax and enjoy the experience, too. Play is at the heart of everything we do here, and I love welcoming families to come and be part of it.
